Suspect in Jail Accused of Trafficking Fentanyl and Making Threats Towards Law Enforcement

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla -- Officers with the West Melbourne Police Department stopped a suspected drug trafficker on Saturday.

Authorities say when they pulled over 37-year-old Maruice Ford from Palm Bay, he was less than cooperative.

According to a police report, Ford was pulled over in his black SUV with dark tinted windows on 192 and St. Johns Heritage Parkway after seen leaving a well know high crime and drug area by the motels.

When asked to step out of the vehicle, Ford was uncooperative and began to resist the officer and stated to that he didn't have to.  Ultimately, officers were able to get him into handcuffs.

A K-9 officer searched the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal contraband.  Officers found 97 grams of Fentanyl / MDMA.  When officers went to escort Mr. Ford to the back seat of the patrol vehicle, Ford became angry and yelled at the officer, "I will fuck you up!".  He was charged with Threats Against a Public Servant and Trafficking Fentanyl.  The suspect sits in jail waiting for trial on a 202,000$ bond.
