
FHP Looking for Four Suspects who Crashed Stolen Car into Patrol Vehicle
MELBOURNE, Fla -- June 21, 2024; 2031hrs
A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper is injured tonight after engaging in a pursuit with a stolen Nissan along I-91 Northbound in Melbourne.
The vehicle then got off the State Road 520 exit in Cocoa.
Authorities say the trooper attempted to do a PIT maneuver, which lets the authorities ram fleeing suspects vehicles off the road in order to stop the suspects. Instead, the stolen vehicle crashed into the patrol vehicle, and both vehicles crashed into a utility pole off of Pineda Street and Allen Street in Cocoa.
The FHP Trooper was injured and taken to a local hospital, while four younger adult - late teenagers fled on foot.
Brevard County Deputies and the FHP are currently canvassing the area.
