8 Killed, Dozens More Injured after Bus Carrying Migrant Workers Crashes, Overturns in Florida
MARION COUNTY, Fla -- A bus carrying migrant workers has crashed and several people have died, THE BLAKE MOIA SHOW has learned.
Authorities and local media reports say that the bus, which was carrying 50 migrant workers who were traveling to go work at a watermelon farm sideswiped a Ford pick-up truck on Hiway 40 in Rual Marion County. The bus veered off the road, crashed through the tree line on the side of the highway before overturning onto its side.
County officials dispatched 30 ambulances and dozens of FHP units and sheriff deputies converged onto the scene.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office says in a post that the road will be closed all day.
"UPDATE: West Highway 40 is still closed and will be for most of the day.
If you're planning to travel on S.R. 40, please note that there's a detour in place:
Eastbound on S.R. 40:
Take U.S. 41 Northbound to West C.R. 328, then head East on West C.R. 328 back to S.R. 40.
Westbound on S.R. 40:
Take West C.R. 328 Westbound to U.S. 41, then go South on U.S. 41 back to S.R. 40." --MCSO
