Indian Harbor Beach, FL --
Florida State Troopers charged a Brevard County man with his 4th DUI after he collided with 3 other vehicles around 9:30am, Thursday.
In a lengthy police report, witnesses say 41-year-old Christopher Louis Kornicki was driving a grey Honda SRV at which he was having trouble maintaining lanes and almost collided with several other vehicles while traveling along State Road A1A.
Traffic came to a stop at a red light at Eau Gallie Blvd., where Kornicki's vehicle rear-ended another Honda at full speed. The force of the impact cased a chain-reaction which caused that Honda to rear-ended a Honda Civic and the Honda Civic rear-ended a black Lexus.
Witnesses did not see brake lights display prior to the collision, reports say.
Troopers say the defendant had trouble completing the standard field sobriety tests.
They report that Kornicki had "pinpoint pupils", droopy eyelids, appeared confused and couldn't recall the events that just took place.
Kornicki admitted to Troopers that he smoked Marijuana and took a 15 milligrams of Oxycodone that morning.
He was placed under arrest and taken to a medical hospital to be cleared for jail. Kornicki refused to provide authorities any blood samples while at the hospital.
Records show that Kornicki has 4 prior DUI arrests; 3 in Florida and 1 in Pennsylvania. Kornicki faces a charge of DUI, 4 counts of DUI with property damage and a refusal to submit to required blood testing. He faces severe penalties and fines, if convicted.
His arraignment is June 24th.
